Initial problem with Solid-waste management-

The following problems are in front of solid waste management agencies-

1. Large no. of open Waste collection spots
2. Onsite burning of waste
3. Unscientific Disposal Site
4. Reckless staff with random working sites
5. Lack of public awareness and co-ordination
6. No strict decisions taken against waste generators
7. Lack of Garbage Transport, Tools and Technology
8. No master plan for waste management
9. Weak connections with large areas.

2. Apply the RRR approach
3. Door to Door Waste collection
4. Introducing a master plane for waste management
5. Identification of open defecation area
6. Scientific Waste Processing  & Engineered Landfill
7. Bio-metric attendance and GPS monitoring of vehicles
8. Litter picking along roads and open areas/plots
9. Separate collection from bulk waste generators.
10. Ban on polythene carry bags

     

D2D waste collection

1. Local NGOs help in awareness of d2d waste collection.
2. Timely door-to-door collection services created confidence in citizens.
3. Cycle rickshaws for narrow lanes.
4. This project helps to make the city bin free.
5. Effective D2D reduces garbage on roads and open areas.

The technology used in waste management

1. Waste to Energy plant setup
2. Mechanized road sweeping on both sides of the road
3. Efficient workshops are the lifeline of successful waste management
4. Purchase of a New Vehicle
5. CCTV cameras have been installed for surveillance at waste processing sites.
6. Manufacturing of Paver blocks, Bricks, etc. from the processed waste.

Challenges in waste management -

Lack of awareness in people & co-ordination with staff

1. Unregulated discharge from leather tanneries in Kanpur
2. It will not succeed without adequate waste management infrastructure and pollution control measures
3. Cities cannot succeed without an overarching framework to deal with the generation, management and disposal of waste.
4. Sewage treatment capacity was less than its total sewage generation. 
5. There are still no proper dumping facilities on highways due to which people throw their waste om roads carelessly.
6. Corruption and Ground report is different than the actual report.

Plan to clean my city

1. Construction of public toilets in every village.
2. Improvement in solid waste treatment and disposing waste. 
3. Arrange some public awareness programs like drama and Street corner
4. Smart Drainage system built with IoT
5. Identify garbage collection places and open defecation places
6. Create a chain system between municipal corporations and the public
