Type of cam in theory of machine

Cam-

Cam is a rotating, occilation or reciprocating member of machines which provide a unique motion to the follower.
It is the driving element.

There are three types of cam

  1. Disc or radial type cam
  2. Cylinder cam
  3. Linear cam

1 Disc or radial type cam -

In this type of cam occilation  of follower is perpendicular to the cam surface.

2. Cylinderical cam-

In this type of cam occupation of follower is parallel to the axis of cam.
These cams are generally used in industries.

3. Linear cam-

These cam only oscillate in straight line.
It provide oscillating motion to the follower.
