Kanban theory

Kanban theory

Kanban is a visual system for managing work during work is in the process to improve efficiency. Kanban visualizes both the process (the workflow) and the actual work passing through that process.
it is a part of Just in Time (JIT) and Lean Manufacturing process.

Some important point that is followed in Kannan system-

  • Work division

Divide the work into different small segments so that it becomes easy to observe carefully.
Work division must be on the basis of priority of work and it's a necessity.

  • Limit work-in-process

Limit the work in the single station so that you can observe carefully.
If there are no work-in-progress limits, you are not doing Kanban.
This increases the pull of work by the next station workers.

  • Focus on workflow

Focus on workflow means identify the bottleneck, blockage and other problems from the workflow.
The non-productive process must be eliminated from the process because they only increase the process cost of the product but not the selling price.

  • Continuous improvement in the work process

As it is continuous improvement process hence it is most important that any small type of improvement must not be ignored.
It is not a brainstorming process that if you slept in the night with no vision and when you woke up in morning then you have a great idea to change the whole system.
It is necessary to participate with all the team members equally.
